Message from Brian - Repertoire for 20 April 2024
Dear Greenwoods
Here’s what we’ll be singing this month. Please note that all the parts for Tranquility are new and need to be downloaded afresh:
Diadem
Dorchester
Gibraltar
Tranquility
Nunc dimittis
Blow Ye the Trumpet
Yes, I know it looks like the American spelling for Tranquility, but it’s the way it’s spelt in the manuscript sources!
I look forward to seeing you all.
Best wishes
Brian

Dear Greenwoods
Ken Baddley will be taking us through a selection of music on Saturday 20th January.
These 4 pieces are from our existing repertoire and full details are on the website:
Amsterdam; Cambridge; Lloyd (O for a closer walk); Spalding.
He will also introduce two new pieces:
Sovereignty; Tranquility.
Ken asks that singers work from the four part scores. These are on the web site under the Conductor's tab.
Singer's individual parts and mp3 are in the usual place on the website under the Singer's tab.
Musicians' copies are also on the website and an mp3 of the whole piece is under the Conductor's tab.
Thank you to Michael (galant recorder player) who has posted our usual array of mp3s etc.
If there are any issues with readability please let me and Michael know.
Best wishes
Mike.

Dear Quire friends
I have some more information about the Plough Service on Sunday 7 January and our rehearsal before the service.
The pieces are as already circulated by Brian:
Jerusalem or Comfort
It Came Upon the Midnight Clear
Lloyd (While Shepherds Watched) (Anthem)
Mansfield
O God, Our Help in Ages Past
Halsway Grace
As the number of tunes is relatively few Brian has shortened the rehearsal time as follows:
Band please arrive to set up and start at 10:00.
The rest of the quire please be ready to take places at 10:15.
The rehearsal will end at 11:00, when there will be a brief break for coffee etc before the service at 11:30.
Following the service there will be food. Please help rearrange furniture round tables. Food will be hot baked potato and choice of sustaining fillings, prepared by the kind people at church. In the past, Quire members have provided pudding contributions. Please think what you can bring - signature dish appreciated. Food is charged at £7.50 for non-quire individuals. Quire funds pay for Quire members.
An idea of numbers for food would be helpful. (To me, please).
Any questions? get in touch. Please let me know of anyone not receiving these messages.
And finally, my very best wishes - to you and your kin - we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Mike
